I'm not a big fan of last minute unilateral changes to a contract. I think you would have been within your rights to tell them you weren't going to do that without additional compensation, and if they refused, the package would be dropped for the overnight delivery you originally agreed to - period, end of story.
It would probably not affect the borrowers. These companies are bullies, thinking they can get you to do whatever they want you to do. You accepted an assignment from them, and you have a contract with them. A contract applies to both parties - perform your end, and hold them to their end. |
