I put the BOA app on my phone at someone's behest - so I could send him an e-check from my FI. Couldn't find the way to get it to work for non-BOA customers, although the web site implied that anyone could send $$$ to the boa account holder via email, phone, etc. (Just had to set up online 1st). I finally gave up and went to his bank for manual deposit. He just figured I was "old school" and didn't know how to initiate the mobile transfer. Even the BOA employee smirked knowingly when I wondered WHY the transfer wasn't possible without an account! I'm sure lots of other folks got the same impression that there was a way to transfer with the capability they claimed to have a month ago.
I just checked the website and it reads, "Send money in minutes to almost anyone, using Zelle." Guess they finally got the "new" advertising right - and actually implemented the pymt network. Wonder how many new boa accounts were opened?
FWIW I'd never open an account there. |
