Apparently the author failed to notice...

that Ohio was the first state to repeal remote notarization this past November. The Senate Committee I sit on was largely responsible for ridding our state of an 11th hour mandate with no standards.

We will eventually come to some consensus regarding standards and qualifications for remote notarization, but it will be something we can live with.
