They call. You ask what they want. A refinance. Zip Code please. Do you have the lender name? (Here you use your brain): Distance + time to sign + amount to print (think lender). Then you respond (if you are available): "Yes, we can do that for you. The fee will be $XXX.
You don't have to accept what someone "offer." That's not how you do business. If they say: We normally pay $XX for this. The key is the word "normally." You are a professional, act like it.
You respond: "That's my minimum fee for a professional signing." You keep negotiating. 80% of the time they will go ahead and meet my fee. If they refuse to pay your fee (or use that crap about "We'll get back to you on that," fine, because you don't need that business. If you just "accept" their fees, then you're really stupid. Sorry to be harsh, but it's true. You won't make any money (unless you're a charity). They want to keep YOUR money. They're greedy. Wakey, wakey. You're the one doing the work!
I don't have any problems with Mortgage Connect and certainly not with Inspire - they both pay my fees and on time. You do have to BILL them however, using their sheets (which are identical to each other). YOU are the one that sets the price. Get over this "having to 'accept' some low fee silliness. |
