Be thankful you didn't stick around with a sick borrower. Reminds me of a non-loan signing (for a law firm) a long while back (during flu season). This was for a young man living with his mother. It was one of those where it was a hassle getting confirmation from the signer. Can't remember if I finally got a response via text or if I talked to his mother, but I was told he was expecting me.

When I got there, I was met by the mom, led to the table where the guy was sitting in his robe. He said hello, then excused himself, so I went ahead and entered his ID info in my journal, prepped the certificates (he already had the documents) and waited. After several minutes and no sign of him, I found his mom in the next room and asked where he went. She said he was in the bathroom and would be back soon, so I waited a few more minutes. She kept telling me he would be just another moment and I didn't have another appointment for a while, so I hung in there. After a couple more inquiries and a phone call or two later, he finally comes back after what could have been 20 to 30 minutes. Turns out he was in the bathroom because he was sick...

Sticking around (which, as is usually the case, I was encouraged to do in little bites...) turned out to be a huge mistake, as I ended up sick myself several days later. It was definitely NOT worth it!
