Each state has it's own requirements. There is a lot of continuing education involved, and you have to apprentice under someone as a residential trainee and they oversee you, so you have to find someone to work under. It's not easy, and the test is brutal.

I never said that they should work for $100.00 like us, what I did say is that their income increased throughout the years unlike ours who decreased. Many, here anyway, will secure a CC just incase the deal falls through, they charge the buyer to get paid. I do not think that is right, because the bank is the one who hires them, but they do it anyway.
Appraisers are not making less in 2019 than they were in 2009 unlike many of us. They also have to work under someone who takes a portion of the pie, just as a realtor, so yes, they deserve more, and yes, they do raise their prices accordingly over the years. It takes many, many years to be on your own and get your clients, just like us, and keep up your training and state's testing. I am not syaing they make too much money, they deserve it, and they get it. You will never see in that business someone undercutting the fee from company to company, they are all pretty much the same fees, and their market is not flooded. It's very hard.

If you LOVE math, being an appraiser may be your thing. I did it, I passed but hated it. I had an aquaintence in south FL making about $100K a year, so the money is there, but it also takes a lot of time and knowledge. The money got me trying it, but you also have to like what you do.
