It IS a thing in California, but I don't know if it's only a California thing... Here, not only are we required to have our name printed consistently (as it is on our commission), we're required to sign notary certificates with the same signature we used on our notary public application (which gets filed with the county where we do business). But since you notarized that document in OR, and not CA, I'd think that the laws in the place where it was notarized should apply. But Scriba/NM may be right. I think it would be a good idea to be consistent with whatever name you use as a Notary Public.
