I believe I would notarize it. The transaction is between you & the signer, and she clearly wants to sign. In California we are asked not to notarize wills, but I am not aware of any other document that we are asked not to notarize. The fact that her daughter is against her mom signing is completely irrelevant to me, as she is not the person I am working with. We are not to refuse notary services unless we have a good reason, and the fact that someone does not want your signer to sign is not a good reason for you to refuse. There have been a few times that I document everything because I believe it could end up in court, and I would certainly document this transaction. |
