Anon,

I do understand what you said. I myself have a couple decades before I retire, but I have watched my mother-in-law live on an average of $600 a month SS income. If is was not for her 11 kids supplementing the necessaties for her, she would have never made it. We all tried to help her out but not break her pride if you know what I mean. She was only able to work outside the home for a few years due to health reasons and then she baby-sat after that. That is about all she knew how to do and was great at it. I had a great mother-in-law.

The reason I have taken on this as a second job is because my husband was out of work for almost 3 months due to his boss and then his own health reasons. I was already a notary in my primary job and could utilize the knowledge as a legal asst in the real estate development to help out the family. I have had double up to supplement that portion of our household income. People do what they have to do and make every dime streatch. They always have and they always will. At least I have taught our daughter to streatch things out. Now she wants to be a notary whe she turns 18.

Most kids are spoiled nowdays and ours is too, but she has seen the other side as well, just not to the extent that we have in our life and our parents and grandparents did. Teens nowdays really don't have a clue.

Anon--you are only as old as you feel, and if you feel young on the inside then you are young.
The outside is just a shell.

Grab life with both hands and run with it. Life life to the fullest.

Enjoy.
