Re: I Have A Question For Jennifer Mumford

One last comment on this... I would just be very careful about using the NNA as an authoritative source on anything related to notary work. You could always ask for an opinion, but the SOS office is the only 'official' source. Just recently, I had a conversation with an attorney who was also a notary. She had believed that an ID was good as long as it was within 5 years of the expiration date.

I'd heard that from someone before many years ago and discovered that the NNA Handbook for CA actually said that. That person (a loan office branch manager) was yelling at me, trying to coerce me to accept a DL that had expired two years before, and he showed me where it said that. I had to get someone from the SOS office on the phone to tell him that he was wrong. (I'm pretty sure that attorney I spoke with got that belief from the same source...)
