You witnessed his signing a codicil. Would you witness the signature of a person of whom you questioned the capacity, i.e., 'rationality,' to sign such a significant document?
It seems to me, that the family's attorney used you against the interests of the woman of 12 years of this man's life.
I still don't see how notarizing the signature validates the signature over the witnesses. Put another way, how does a notay's stamp super-validate the witnesses' testimony?
I will have my codicils not only witnessed, but notarized, thanks to your story, so that my wishes are carried out, and so some slick lawyer can't (hopefully) override my decisions.
