Where did you get this idea that immigrants came here because they wanted cheap land? Cite something to support that.
My parents and my grandparents on both sides, i am 1st generation here. They came from Germany, bought their land and built homes in WI. The land was plentiful and at low cost and affordable. They were farmers and the opportunity was there at a good price to build, grow and succeed. They didn't come here broke and with nothing either. The USA back then was an opportunity and you came in on a ship with a registry, through Elis Island, you were accounted for and you had your destination. Once here, you got your American citizenship, learned to speak English, bought your land, opened a business or farmed it, built your homestead.
So what's the alternative you would suggest - we just let them die on the street?
Close the borders like Trump did and have them come in legal, be accounted for, have something to offer. Easy, just like everyone else did. Biden opened the flood gates and cannot control the mess he created causing way more harm to everyone than Trump ever did. You send a message the door to the USA is closed, they have to stay home or go elsewhere and get in line like everyone else to do it legally and responsibly.
I am a Christian, unlike yourself who believes in abortion. My attitude is not to take more on than you can handle. Not make promises or lie to families and have them make a long trek here just to be treated brutally. The answer is not letting them in, and not to starting that whole train of events in the first place.
Humanitarian aid to where they live and help them with a plan to succeed, send officials down there to help them build or whtever they need. You can feed people fish all day long, but teaching them to fish for themselves is the answer. That's what Jesus said.
