Natural gas is odorless - they add something to it that causes what you smell when there's a gas leak; otherwise, you would have no idea that it's leaking, just like you have no idea if the house is filling up with carbon monoxide unless you have a CO detector. If your pilot light goes out, it's possible that you might not smell the leaking gas until it's too late and the house goes BOOM.
Restaurants will probably always use gas ranges because they enable the cooks to control the heat, something electric stoves are really bad at. Gas stoves are not going away.
I really think the whole argument is just a diversion, meant to cover some of the things the GOP wants to do such as gutting Social Security and Medicare. |
