IDK why this is happening so frequently - it MAY be attributable to mental illness, but even if it is, the weapon of choice is always the AR-15 and similar long guns. It's not pistols, not semi-automatic hand guns - it's always an AR-15 style rifle that was designed as an assault weapon.
If you want go with the argument that these people are mentally unstable, then why is there no effort to address mental illness (Republicans voted AGAINST increasing funding for mental health programs in schools)? If THAT'S the problem, why is there no effort to do anything about it - we're just doing the same thing over and over and over again - thoughts and prayers, don't politicize it. it's too soon to talk about it, but there is NEVER an attempt to actually fix it.
If you take the gun out of the hands of the mentally disturbed individual, the mass shooting doesn't happen. It's NOT only the fault of the person pulling the trigger - it's the fact that they have a trigger to pull in the first place. Eliminate the gun - you can't pull a trigger that isn't there, can you??
It's the gun. It's always been the gun. Everything else is just excuses.
