http://abcnews.go.com/US/type-gun-us-homicides-ar-15/story?id=78689504 "The type of gun used in most US homicides is not an AR-15"
Although this report seems to incorrectly conflate the phrase "assault rifles" with the actual meaning of "AR" in AR-15, the actual point of the report is worth taking notice of (i.e. The type of gun used in most US homicides is not an AR-15)
People who are anti-gun, more often than not, do not want to consider that we are roughly 30 years into the "time-out", trophy for everyone just for showing up, parents teaching their kids that only their child's opinions matter or their opinions matter more than anyone's else, don't discipline my child at school, ...etc. I don't believe that the games parents allow young children are 'making' them do these types of things, however, it is undeniable that a lot of the games marketed to young people really shouldn't be allowed by the parents to be played by their children. While not 'making' people do things, certain games, played over time, will desensitize a person -- that is just a scientific fact. These things, by themselves, may not be the answer to "What has changed", but, imo, they should at least be something to be considered when truthfully looking for the answer. Disciplining children (not abuse) worked for us, our parents, our grandparents, their parents, etc. How did the even the concept come to be considered by so many today as a form of child abuse? To not discipline and teach your child as they are growing up is, imo, child abuse on so many different levels because of the overall harm it does to them when the reality of the world hits them and they find out that they are not the center of the universe. |
