My younger brother and his wife live about 10 minutes from me. They're the only family I have nearby - everyone else is up north - and they have proven to be a lifeline for me since I moved down here, more times than I can count.
I'm fully vaxxed and wear a mask when I'm around others, especially indoors, but they both refuse to get vaccinated, and won't wear masks. I reached the point long ago where I won't even discuss it with them anymore; I depend on them and don't want there to be hard feelings between us, but at the same time I worry about them because Covid is starting to tick up again here in Texas, and most of the infected are unvaccinated. In fact, a state agency here recently released a report that said Texans are 12 times more likely to catch Covid if they are unvaccinated. The local hospital is almost at capacity, and there are no ICU beds available.
Now I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place - they just invited me for Thanksgiving, and I'm not sure how to respond. |
