I always leave the tip that way. It's better for them because then they get the whole tip - don't have to pay the credit card fee. And in some cases it keeps the money out of management's hands.
When the delivery service Instacart first started out, a lot of drivers got royally ticked off because the company was having the customers put the tips on their credit card, and then Instacart would give them the tip but deduct an equal amount from their pay for that job - they considered the tip as part of the pay the driver was getting for that job. It got so bad that some drivers started handing out notes to customers, asking them to tip in cash on all future orders. The company promised to stop doing that but dragged its feet for months. I started using Shipt at the start of the pandemic, and they stated upfront on their website that 100% of any tip goes to the driver.
