For whatever reason, they say day 5 is a crucial day. With improvement you’ve gained, it can be setback day. I woke up about midnight with my headache that had become a dull pain now a splitting headache. Niece says to “treat the symptoms” and not let COVID take over. The thing about it being in my head like head cold symptoms, cold medicine doesn’t work on COVID — not Theraflu, not Alka Seltzer Plus, not Sudafed. Acetaminophen has been helping with the pain, but refused to bring my head back to a dull pain last night. I know from my sinus/migraine headaches, I can rub IcyHot on my temples and it relieves the throb. Doing this in the dark because I didn’t want to wake up more than I had to, some of my hair got IcyHot on it and wiped across my eye. While the IcyHot was not working on my temples, it did get the attention of my eye. The last headache trick in my bag is putting a moist wash rag in the microwave, or a cold one on my face and head. I chose the cold one. Dressed in my sweats with my sweatshirt pulled up over my head so my body wouldn’t get a chill, I can announce that after 3 hours of cold on my face and head and nibbling on saltine crackers, my head is a dull pain again. I have a high tolerance for pain except when it comes to my head. Now I can go back to sleep. |
