In my original post I meant to say "When only one signer appears, but two (or more) names are on the document..."
If the name of the signer is not included in the jurat, then it could be assumed that ALL signers appeared before the notary, not just one. Then, the others could sign without appearing before a notary and no one would know any different.
If I were in CO, I would make sure to write in the name of the person before me, even if the law does not specifically address this for jurats.
Here in Florida, I see plenty of notarial certificates without a space for the signer names, but I write them in anyway, even when all signers are appearing. |
