"report that Americans abroad experience trouble notarizing foreign executed documents."

Deal with this regularly. Not a problem getting the notarization. The people don't like 1) the COST and 2) having to make an APPOINTMENT rather than just walk in for a $2 notarization. American Consulate charges $60 for U.S. citizens with an appointment.

Wonder how CHEAP the video camera notarizations can go below the Consulate fee?

If the notary is sued because the signer or recipient or beneficiary of the "document" isn't happy, how much insurance does the notary need to carry. If the signer is in Mexico, does the notary have to travel to Mexico for depositions and documents and need a Mexican lawyer?

Will be a great law for international lawyers experienced in this to make a profit when the lawsuits and challenges start. What's the venue, whose law applies - the State where the notary was standing in the U.S. OR the country the signer was standing in when signing the document?
