By reviewing the profiles you can accomplish couple of things (YES I was bored last night).
1) you can see who the low ballers are and the highest numbers are first.
2) it can be validated that that the order ranking is based on volume and not proximity to the zip code.(oh and if you have a pic or not)

Soo even though you are not paying to be on the site, you are because you are choosing to take the low fees. SD is rewarding you for being a lowballer which in turns drives profit. Interesting concept.
Soo the goal in all this is to take LOW fees (and add a Pic) so that your volume goes up and you will be listed higher.
