Even though it's a highly sensible recommendation, no one on this end is making any cut & dry rules here (it comes up in the fine print with EVERY New Post); also, it is Very evident when someone hasn't taken this step - and not necessarily the pat, "I searched this before."
Again, what is being talked of here are BASIC, common situations, not the occasional What Ifs. The hard part for me is trying to search a very recent topic and not being able to recall the words to find; even the ones you'd think would trigger don't always bring up the right thread (so frustrating). Nothing's foolproof, I guess.
BTW, Susan YOUR background and diligence is Obvious in the way you carry yourself here when engaging with others; and it is a refreshing pleasure. It's not often that newbie posts are enjoyed.
