represent the signature line below when asked. And the signings go much faster!
I have had many foreigners whose signature is printed, never once has one been rejected.
I have never asked a borrower to change their legal signature to match the documents with the exception of adding a middle name or initial when the signature is legible. If they insist on signing without because that is how they "always" sign (per borrower), I advise that it could delay funding and I will be advising all parties that the decision was theirs. Not had one come back once.
Interesting story;
Had a signing once where the borrowers name was "Roberta Jones" and she signed "Jack Smith". WTH?! The signature matched the signature on her DL and passport. She said since her Dad passed she took on his signature as omage to her Dad. I happened to be at the escrow office signing her so excused myself to follow up on this. Lender accepted the signature on all five loans and I accepted it since it matched all the ID she brought with her. First and last time I have had something like this come up. |
