For a person who learned cursive in elementary school and now, many years later, still signs their name in cursive, that doesn't mean they're able to write anything but their customary signature in cursive. Writing a phrase in cursive after decades of practice is a different skill than writing a phrase that you never practiced before, or seldom practice.
If customary signature, on driver license, is in cursive, legible, and reads "John Q. Jones", that doesn't necessarily mean they can write "John Quincy Jones" in cursive. (Or they may be able to do it, but make frequent mistakes and it looks different every time they try it.) |
