Attacking unfavorable news is a tactic that has been used by totalitarian regimes for decades - one of the first things they want to do is eliminate the press and replace it with state-run media. Fox News is quickly becoming state-run TV, and virtually every other outlet is being condemned as fake. Trump likes to refer to "the failing NY Times" - both the NYT and WAPO are experiencing an unprecedented surge in subscriptions. MSNBC and CNN both consistently beat Fox in the ratings.
So rather than talking about "fake news", maybe we should be talking about "real news" vs. "Trump news". |
