We originally cut the cable about 4 years ago. Purchased a small indoor power boosted antenna at Wal-Mart for about $25 to pick up local TV and news. We subscribed to Netflix and Hulu.
Since then we invested in eero, a multiple router system with a very nice phone app. That eliminated buffering and dropped channels and having to occasionally reset the router or the Roku.
When Charter offered high speed internet, a landline and basic cable for $99 we added cable again. They insisted I take a cable box but I don't use it. I stream everything through three eero router devices throughout the home. No cable connections and perfect pictures.
Since then Charter has raised their fee about $35, total $135 for everything. I may cut the cord again someday but enjoy watching cable tv on my pad at times, and subscribing to channels like TCM, etc on Roku as a cable subscriber.
