Our bundle with Charter Spectrum has no contract but the downside is they start sneaking the rates up. I started paying $29.99 each for basic cable, phone and highspeed internet. Now the basic cable is $48 and the Internet is $50, while they lowered the phone to $19.99.
Over the four years I accumulated two Roku 3's and use another smart TV with Roku already onboard
I have the eero router system, plugged into 3 locations in the home. I can operate as many devices as I want it seems without any dropped signal or slow-down.
I noticed that Netflix raised my fee though for streaming on two devices.
Hulu is cheap! They just lowered their fees to I think $4.99 a month. It's the service we use the least BUT they have most all of basic television just posted the next day. That's actually a convenience since we don't use any sort of DVR and can watch say, the grand finale of American Idol commercial free at our convenience.
Overall, I have WAY more TV then I can ever scan through much less watch.
I think the basic need if you cut the cord is for a low cost off air antenna to get local channels. We're not using them now as we're back on cable...but keep them handy! Don't get suckered into a high cost antenna. We have a simple and nice looking rectangular antenna with a slight parabola and a kick stand that allows us to hide it behind the tv on the tv counter or whatever. $25 at Wal-Mart. |
