Massachusetts has NO Interstate Recognition Act to validate an out-of-state notarization that doesn't comply with Massachusetts law.
Translation: No RON; MA law requires the signer to be physically present* in front of the Notary Public. Also, the acknowledgement block for a MA document must comply with the requirements of a MA acknowledgment, such stating the signer executed the document "voluntarily" or as his/her "free act and deed."
* What I call the "reach out and touch someone" definition of physical presence. |
