I have done this for LOCAL Title Co. known to me and LOCAL Attorneys known to me; checks were on their client or trust accounts and I can do that here in Illinois and I have E&O and business insurance to cover me. YOu are wise to pass on this if not insured, if parties issuing checks are unknown to you and, MOST importantly, Oregon law permits.
Caps are for emphasis; I would not have done this w/o knowing the issuer of the checks and the details of the transactions.
