If you think about it from the perspective of a veteran, they could make a case for a reduction in fees based on the law. If I were a vet and the law said I couldn't be charged for notary services related to my benefits... I'd demand an itemized accounting of the fees and be sure I wasn't charged. And yes... I'd be that annoying as to count each and evey notarized signature and check them off one at a time. Actually, I'd probably do that anyway, veteran or not. I'm kin dof a lender's worst nightmare, but only because I've seen so many wonky fee packages. I'd want to know where every penny is going, and as the borrower I have the right to know.
In the end, the borrower does pay for those services. |
