again, where is the CA code that you are talking about? ___________________________________________________ This is what I could find in regards to multiple names in certificate. Handbook 2015, page 31, code 1193
"and the name of the person who acknowledges their signature". No where in the code does it reference plural names used. It says "the name". The code has only used singular terminology. For me anyway, I would consider best practice only one single name in certificate be used. Since I could not find the use of plural terminology in the CA code.
Notary Handbook 2015 page 31, code 1193: The day, month and year must be completed with the date the signer personally appeared before the notary public and acknowledged signing the document. The notary public must insert his or her name and title “notary public” where indicated, and the name of the person who acknowledges their signature on the document after “personally appeared.” Then the notary public must sign and stamp the certificate with the notarial seal. (California Civil Code section 1193.)
