| SS probably was just playing games with this notary. One time one SS told me that I won't be paid just because I did not pick up a check from the borrowers. We signed at 7 am in a Saturday and they wanted a cashier's check. There was no way we can get a cashier's check at that time and this was a refi, not even a purchase loan. SS are always trying to intimidate notaries. That's why that was my first reaction to "not getting paid" Ok, you won't get the docs shipped but it was just a quick reaction to their threat. I have never and will never hold docs hostage. In this particular signing that I did like 11 years ago, I shipped the docs and check showed up like 10 days later. If a SS tells me you won't be paid because of such and such reason and if I see that they are just bluffing I bluff back but I do my part of the deal and I don't expose myself to a lawsuit. I will rather lose the whole notary fee than be more liable in case signers lose a rate lock or other deadline in the deal. Good thing I don't work for SS anymore. I started this year to see if I can survive with just my direct clients and be available only to them and it's been working so good. |
