...it was about this statement "What are some of you doing to improve your bottom line, cuz a lot of topics lately don't seem to be very focused on building a successful NSA/notary business."
This is true, a lot of posts are not including the past OP's. That's the point of topic. Who is successful? I consider myself to be, the OP surely is, and many of you that have been at this 5+ years must be too, or be long gone and broke. There is no plan, no two ways of going about it, and nobody will give you that golden ticket either. It's a combination of hard work, skill and opportunities that get us where we are at. Networking, sure, marketing, sure, right place/right time, sure, common sense, absolutely...but don't criticize another NSA for researching the XYZ looking for answers which affect the majority of us, when you don't think they are focused on their own business. I believe that was the intention of this post.
XYZ takes 99% of this business making all things that, and the leaders are making millions combined. Why can't that be disclosed if they are tax exempt? Supposed to be widely accessible, nothing to hide and aboveboard if they claim to be and file as that. I, you, and GB pays taxes as an independent closer, why doesn't the top guy(s) have to? That's his question. Like it or not, it's a legitimate question that has a right to be answered. Is it too embarrassing to see he makes 1/2 million a year a million a year? Hopefully we find out. It would be nice instead of them questioning how a NSA can make more money "per email" (and then dare to charge you for it) offer support and advocate for us to the SS's, title companies and lenders to offer a decent wage to keep us interested in this job and we can earn a competitive wage in this real estate industry. Every facet of this industry from the appraiser, realtor, the surveyor to the title company and LO makes a heck of a lot more "risk free" money than we do, and yet our fees offered continue to drop while their wages continuously increase. Shouldn't they be the advocate for us? The mighty "XYZ" should be speaking up and representing us to SS's and title companies? Making us happy and proud to be a part of that team, so they actually do earn their annual fees? Instead of wanting to charge you for information they should be providing as becoming a Certified NSA and BGC through them? I have an answer...Maybe stop the flood gates. Stop pushing newbies through by the hundreds daily into our profession, promising them 6 figures and then they can't even get a single closing from a single reliable paying company. They are not taking care of us, they are not our representation, yet the golden standard everyone requires to in some way, shape or form. What exactly are they doing for us? I'd really like to hear other options on building their successful NSA's career that have been at it for the duration. It's probably just what I mentioned above. There is no miracle, nothing new to say, nobody is going to hand you their list of preferred if you are new. Not happening. Lunch is great, friends are great, professionals getting together to meld the minds is great once or twice a year, but really nothing is changing except your own motivation to make it happen for yourself. This whole ranting absurd post was not about the luncheon, or I didn't intend it to be that. Look deeper.
I'd like to make it about newbies getting a fair shot the XYZ promised them with their initial investment, how they make it just out of the XYZ womb, and how they go about their business plan of making it happen, when the odds are against them. They can't to even get a fair shot at a SS that will pay them timely and an acceptable rate, and get stiffed right out the gate. Unfortunately all the networking, luncheons and positive vibes can't help them. We were all in their shoes at one time, eons ago and in a different time. I just don't have answers on how they will succeed or survive and in doing so, how we can continue down our paths we cut out in a flooded market. |
