The attorney is also a notary. The borrower is very old & not able to drive the long distance to the attorney's office. In California we obligated to notarize unless there is strong reason not to such as fraud, coercion or incompetence. In this case, the only reason for me not to notarize would be that I disagree with the attorney on whether he should be using the old form or a new form. That is a legal question & as a notary I am not to practice law. Refusing to notarize would be saying that I know more about the legality of this matter than her attorney. |
