I have been working as a signing agent for about two and a half months, now. I have 63 signings done as of today, which is great. I rarely make mistakes in my signings. I tend to err on the side of caution when working. This tends to result in my signings taking a bit longer than what I expect the average to be. I usually clock in at around 1.5-2 hours on an average refi package of around 140 pages.
I do admit that I love to chat with signers when we are at the table. I enjoy sharing my stories (I've lived in several different countries, ran some really interesting companies, etc.), and I love to hear other people's stories.
Recently, I did a refi for that was about 140 pages. I finished it in just about 1.5 hours. The signer mentioned the last refi they did only took them about 45 minutes. He admitted that this package had more paperwork than others he had signed, but his comment motivated me to try and improve the efficiency of my signings.
I'm sure that if I cut out some of the chit-chat I could save some time. But, aside from that, what can I do to try to bring my signings down closer to the one hour mark for the same 140-page refi?
