Exactly what I was referring to in regards to local attorneys. I am sure that at least one of these people who were illegally held had to try to speak with an attorney after they were released. Just the shear number of people and the length of time this was going on makes it seem almost statistically impossible that not a single one every sought out legal advice over being illegally held. I haven't searched the local papers but with the number of stories on my local news about every little thing someone locally thinks local law enforcement has done them wrong over (actual or just perceived) you would think that cops locking up an entire family because they thought the mother might have seen something while she was at the store would have made the news.
I have a feeling that the city pd, the city, the parish, and individual officers will be named in multiple lawsuits, as they should be. |
