I don't carry a gun as well. I carried one in the Army..that was enough. Unfortunately, prayer will probably do as much or little as gun laws. The problem is not the law, but following the law. The most regulated areas in our country have high levels of ownership and gun crimes. They also have many criminals who don't follow gun laws. A law is only as good as the people who obey it. The average traveling speed on our roads or highways is well above the speed limit. The speed limit is not a suggestion it is a law. The problem is not whether people follows laws, but which law they choose to follow. I think the gun laws are nothing more than a pipe dream. Praying to be delivered from evil is not a worse idea. If people, individually, decide not to hurt others or take their belongings, we wouldn't have to worry about guns. My point is that there is no simple solution to this problem. An unfired gun is not dangerous until someone decides to pull the trigger.
