While I don't disagree with what you've said, the fact is that it's not the criminals who are committing these mass murders - it's supposedly law-abiding citizens who, for some reason, suddenly snap. Criminals have always and will always be able to get guns, but they're not the ones walking into schools or nightclubs or 32 floors up in a tower and murdering people at random.

There has to be some legislation that allows gun owners to keep their guns within reason (this guy brought over 20 of them to the hotel, and had 19 more in his house - who needs that many guns??), while at the same time limiting the danger to the public. That means stricter background checks, eliminating the loopholes for private sales and internet sales, and banning private ownership of semi-automatic weapons unless the owner is in the military or in law enforcement. There is no reason a private citizen NEEDS an AR-15 other than their belief that the Constitution says they can have one - which it doesn't - or they suck as a hunter and need all the help they can get.
