Today it was announced that the DOJ has asked the Commerce Department to include a question on the next Census that will ask if they are Citizens. While I agree this is actually good, a firestorm of protest is already hotter than volcanic eruptions and lava flows about this. Since data is not to identify but rather gather information for economic regional statistics and the like, its surprising anyone would protest this. Also, technically, according to one lawyer on the news, you don't even have to answer that question if you don't want to. And this question did appear way back on the 1950 census. |
