Let me tell you a story about 'rules are quite strict'. Many years ago, I worked as a Field Enumerator for a state dept. of Ag. Every 10 years, they do a 'financial survey' and said that who got selected was taken from local Ag. dept. One man was a lawyer who also had a herd of beef and had never tangled with the local Ag. dept. BUT, the address I was given for him was his law office, which he stated only shows up on his tax returns. Go figure, but I haven't trusted 'strict rules' since.
Another story: People who owned vacation homes took out hunting licenses as state residents. BUT, the state cross-checked resident hunting licenses against state tax returns and nailed these people with a huge fine for being non-residents for hunting license purposes. |
