"Certification, not to be confused with Verification. Two different things." I'm not sure what Yoli means
I don't know exactly what a TX notary needs to do to certify a copy. In Vermont the language for what we call copy certification on the forum is "certifying or attesting a copy" [26 VSA § 5304 (10)]. In this, the notary certifies the accuracy of the copy.
"Verification" is VT is short for "taking a verification on oath or affirmation"; the signer signs a written statement and makes an oath or affirmation that the statement is true. The statement might be that the document is a true copy of something, but it's the signer that's swearing about the accuracy of the copy, not the notary. |
