Do you know whether the new vaccine uses a live virus? I was supposed to get a shingles vaccine a couple of years ago, but luckily spoke with my oncologist first, who told me "NO!" in no uncertain terms because of my compromised immune system. Basically, what he told me was that if I took that shot, which was made with a live virus, I would be more likely to GET shingles than be protected against it.
What that taught me was that I have to run everything by my oncologist first, because your basic family practitioner doesn't always understand the implications when there's cancer involved. I haven't revisited the question with him since then, but I'll be seeing him in a couple of weeks and will definitely ask if the newer vaccine is safe for me. Thanks for the heads up.
PS - the Brian Regan clip was hysterical. I had not seen him do that bit before, but he nailed the ER experience. |
