We may take things a bit too much for granted in this country. I simultaneously posted in a global forum (same, originally asking for practical advice) and created quite a buzz. A few health professionals also added information. Here's one from Australia. Had to chuckle at the 'tea room' survey down under...
"bear, thank you for this thread. Your experience sounds just terrible. I work in healthcare and have seen some awful shingles rashes, but haven’t known of anyone being vaccinated. Our immunisation program provides free vaccinations for set groups in the community, so Zostavax is available free for over 70’s in Australia.
The Shingrix (2 dose) is available and costs approximately $450-550. I only know this now as your thread made me look it up. I did a ‘tea room’ survey and no one had been vaccinated or was considering it. Maybe I should print out your posts.." |
