I would like to contact the authorities. What would you do?
Posted by grapebed of MO on 2/7/18 4:31pm Msg #589579
There is a part of me that would like to contact the authorities if I receive a Deed and Cashiers check in the mail as described in the below email. What would you do? They contacted me asking for a witness. I said I could do it. Now I get the below email about a Cashier's check. Should I contact them ASAP and tell them NOT to send me anything in the mail:

"Hi,

I need a mobile notary to witness a signature on a Warranty Deed in St. louis because I am buying a piece of land. Here is what you would need to do at some point within the next couple days:
Receive a packet in the mail that will contain a Deed + a Cashier's Check
Upon receipt, Call the seller and set up a meeting time and place
Meet the seller, witness their signature, and hand the seller their cashier's check
Place the notarized original deed in a return envelope (provided to you) and send it back to me
The signing should only take a few minutes. "

Something sounds funny here. I have no intention of delivering a Cashier's check to anyone. Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
