It does sound suspicious to me, with all the stories of fake cashiers checks and/or money laundering around. But even if I was convinced it was a legitimate deal, I still wouldn't do it. After the deed is signed, I would be making a decision that the seller had satisfied a requirement for the sale and acting on that decision by handing over the check. That's a decision for a lawyer (or the buyer, in person) to make, not me. |
