I believe the article said the borrowers went to the title office. The notarization was done through Notarize, and according to their website, they only use Virginia eNotaries.
I don't see why this couldn't work with the borrowers staying home and using Notarize for the notarized docs. But if Notarize operates the way their website suggests, they would only deal with the notarized docs and the signers would be on their own signing the unnotarized docs. Maybe that could work, since the computer wouldn't let them miss any signatures or initials, and woudn't let them enter any incorrect dates (or maybe the computer would enter the dates for them). Hope someone is awake at title to answer their phone calls. |
