I think you're downplaying the problem, which is easy to do when yours isn't the vote being suppressed.
I don't think it was a well-coordinated effort - all they had to do was lie. That doesn't take a lot of coordination. If there's absolutely no record of any complaint or structural issues, why are they closing the locations a couple of months before an important election?
And as far as it being "only" about 500 votes - Trump won the Electoral College by a combined total in three states of less than 80,000 votes, out of over 1.2 million votes cast nationally. Every vote deserves to be counted, and we should be making it easier for citizens to vote, not harder.
